Ruth Erenberg passed away in her home in Jenkintown, PA at the age of 77 on May 19, 2023. Born on May 26th, 1945 in Tel Aviv, Ruth was raised and brought up in Queens, New York, lived 9 years in San Francisco, and over 30 years in Philadelphia. Ruth received a BA in Fine Arts from Queens College, sold handmade jewelry at Fisherman’s Wharf, took a greyhound bus from New York to Mexico, and provided compassion, kindness, and love to her family and friends. She loved science fiction, the Rolling Stones, nature, and art. Ruth was an advocate for others and an active parent volunteer in the public schools and community volunteer in the greater Philadelphia area.
Ruth retired from the City of Philadelphia after 23 years of service. She became a Fine Art Instructor at Temple University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute where she taught acrylic painting, drawing, and elements of composition.
Ruth was preceded in death by her mother Chana Gottlieb, father Boris Erenberg, great uncle Hirsh Gottlieb, sister Nurith Erenberg. Ruth Erenberg is survived by her daughter Veronica Erenberg.
Memorial services will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to MANNA (mannapa.org), a nutrition service that provides medically appropriate meals to neighbors who are battling serious illnesses such as cancer, renal disease and HIV/AID.
