A Celebration of the Life of Ruth Marion Sims
Ruth passed peacefully on March 26, 2019 surrounded by family. Ruth was born in Philadelphia, December 10, 1926 to Carl and Rebecca Ritting. She was raised in Cheltenham, PA. with her late sisters Merle Rieben, Marie Williams and late brother Carl Ritting. She met the love of her life the late Raymond Sims and they married on September 13, 1947. They settled on Blake Avenue in Rockledge, PA. and raised their family. Ruth and Ray were married for over 50 years and Ruth lived in their family home for over 65 years.
Ruth was a homemaker and volunteered in the Rockledge community. She was designated Matron of the Eastern Star. After raising their family Ruth went to work for an oncology practice and then later at Fox Chase Cancer Center. She was compassionate and dedicated to her work. She began traditions that would bring joy to so many people.
There was never a time when Ruth’s hands were not moving. Sewing, knitting, creating. She made countless donations to people suffering and in need. Ruth’s creativity touched so many of her family and friends special events, weddings, birthdays and holidays.
Ruth enjoyed life, games, travel, sports, shows. She created so many family traditions that have been cherished over the years.
Ruth is survived by Tina (Ralph) Holland, Dana (Pam) Sims, Lori (Ron) Lewis and Lisa (Ron) McGee. She adored her grandchildren Dawn (Jason) Kizel, Heather Baltzer, Candy (Tim) Hirsch, Adam (Laura) Holland, Greg, Laura and Michael Sims; Sean, Ryan, Chris (Abby) and Brittany McGee. And, great grandchildren Taylor, Jackie and Mikayla Kizel; Olivia Baltzer, Ashton, Trevor and Cassidy Hirsch; Sarah Holland and baby McGee on the way! She leaves many other nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors that she treated like family.
Ruth’s simple goodness and generosity influenced us all. Ruth’s humble life of service to others left an impact on so many lives and will be cherished for years to come. God Bless Ruth! Everyone’s favorite Gram! We Love You!
Relatives and Friends are invited to greet Ruth’s family on Friday April 5th at 10:30AM at New Life Church, 467 N. Easton Road Glenside, Pa 19038 where Ruth’s memorial service will immediately follow at 11AM. In lieu of flowers charitable donations in Ruth’s name may be made to Fox Chase Cancer Center . Please join the family for a luncheon following the ceremony at the Austrian Village 321 Huntingdon Pike, Rockledge, PA. 19046.
