Salvatore DeSanctis

Sal DeSanctis was born December 25th, 1935 in the small town of Toro in the Apennine Mountains of Italy. Sal survived the difficulty of poverty and World WarII to become quite accomplished.

After coming to the US at 12 years old, he served in the US Army during the Cuban missile crisis and went on to graduate from Temple University with a degree in English.

While his career as a recreation leader lasted 30 years, he was a polymath in every sense of the world; a carpenter, painter, gunsmith, big game hunter, writer and teacher to everyone he met.

Sal loved life on his own terms and made the most of every day. He often lamented that as a sickly child, and never guaranteed tomorrow, you better make the most of everyday and live life to the fullest. He always said that whenever it was his time he had no regrets because he had been blessed with more opportunities than that little boy in Italy could ever imagine.

Sal is survived by his wife Jackie and son Tony (Vicki), three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a brother John.

Memorialization will be private. In Lieu of flowers or monetary contributions in his memory, Sal would ask you to be a good person, treat each other with understanding and live life like everyday is your last…because you just never know!
