Sherry Marie Apelt-Montgomery (nee. Brown)

January 27, 1948 to October 8, 2021

Beloved mother of Carla Mandell and Heidi DeVincent (Mike); Nana to Megan and Joshua Mandell, Shelby and Abby DeVincent, and Callie and Luke Falzone; stepmother to Hollie Falzone (Rob). Sherry was predeceased by her husband Robert E. Montgomery (2014). Beloved sister to Patty Brown, Barbara Vice, Bill Brown (Edie), and Rick Brown (Alice), and her many nieces and nephews.

Sherry was the daughter of Carlyn and Aileen Brown of Hamilton, Ohio. She lived a full and loving life that was dedicated to the service of others. Her lifetime of service began with her time spent in the Women's Army Corps (WAC's) during the Vietnam Era, where she served as an EKG technician. This was followed by being a friend to everyone she met that included helping her friends find a home and being a part of our family. In addition, Sherry served on the Philadelphia Police District Advisory Council for the 25th District as both a member and as the president. She also devoted her time and cooking talents to the Help Make Peace Organization. Further service to others included creating an official Town Watch in her neighborhood, Thank-A-Vet Organization, Democratic Committee Woman of the 42nd Ward, as well as feeding and clothing the homeless community.

At Sherry's request, there will be no services or memorial. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that everyone "Pay it Forward" to someone in need with an emphasis on the veterans and/or the homeless community. The family thanks everyone for their love and support shown during this extremely difficult time.
