Shirley Ann (Carter) Shackelford, 79, of Abington, Pennsylvania, passed away on March 25, 2026 after a courageous fight with pancreatic cancer.

She was born to parents Horace Carter and Hilda (Yerkes) Carter, on December 23, 1946 in Ivyland, Pennsylvania.

She married her first husband, Don Voelker, in 1964 and they had two daughters.

Shirley met Perry Shackelford in 1989. They were married on December 28, 1994 in Abington, Pa.

Shirley was a world traveler, an excellent cook who loved to entertain her family and regularly active in political campaigns. Shirley worked as a Realtor for Re/Max for 43 years.Throughout her career she was honored with many awards for excellence in real estate sales over the years.

Shirley is survived along with her husband, Perry, by daughter Deborah (Voelker) Kowalchuk (Paul) and daughter Pamela (Voelker) McCarthy (Joe) and step-son Andrew Shackelford. Also four granddaughters: Jessica Kinsler, Megan McCarthy, Paulina Kowalchuk and Olivia McCarthy. Also, her sister Nancy (Carter) Brown.

A celebration of life is scheduled for Friday, April 10, 2026 at 12:30 pm at the Abington Art Center 515 Meetinghouse Road, Jenkintown PA. 19046. A reception will follow on site.
