Storm Magdalene Evans died peacefully and unexpectedly on January 9, 2021, at her home in Cheltenham, Pa., at the age of 71. She was born on March 13, 1949, in Sayre, Oklahoma, the daughter of Roy James and Iris Fern Switzer. She was soon adopted by her mother’s second husband, Donald C. Townsend, who worked in oil exploration in Texas and was
required to move frequently, leading Storm to often say that she attended (by her count) 42 different elementary schools.
She received a business degree from East Texas State University and worked as a teacher, as a secretary/typist, and then became the manager of the word processing department and an information systems manager at Fulbright & Jaworski. She used her experience at Fulbright to become an automation and practice support consultant to law firms and, although she was not a lawyer, she was for many years a member of, and frequent author and speaker for, the Law Practice Management Section of the American Bar Association.
Her consulting work brought her to Philadelphia in the early 1990s, where she met and married her third (and final) husband, Daniel B. Evans. She was an active member of Chestnut Hill Friends (Quaker) Meeting, and was an avid quilter.
Storm is survived by her husband, Daniel B. Evans, her son, Ronnie Michael Early Jr. (Kristi), two grandchildren, Ezra and Silas, two step-children, four step-grandchildren, a brother, and four sisters.
A memorial meeting for worship will be scheduled for a future date.
Gifts to remember or honor Storm may be made to Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Inc ., or to the Skyspace Endowment of Chestnut Hill Friends Meeting, 20 East Mermaid Lane, Philadelphia, PA 19118.
