Thomas James Lennon, Jr., born on August 9th, 1956, passed away suddenly on June 16th, 2022, in his home, at the age of 65. For those close to him, he was also affectionately known as Tinker, T Lennon, TL, Black Squirrel, and Pop Pop.
Devoted father to Megan "Doozer" Lennon Duca (Eric Duca), Kristie "Mooks" Lennon (Chandler Poole), TJ "Bomber" Lennon, and Matthew "Iceman" Lennon (Adrienne Hagstrom). Cherished grandfather to Jayden, Bryson, and Noah Poole, and Colton Duca. Adored lifelong friend and partner of Margaret Lennon-Davis. Beloved uncle to Patrick Heckroth, Anthony DiGiovanni, Grace DiGiovanni, Kristin Mangan and Ken Van Osten. Endeared brother to Patricia Van Osten (Ken Van Osten, Sr.). Betrothed to Bernadette Haggerty.
Tom was born and raised in Philadelphia, where he spent most of his days on the basketball courts and baseball fields in Mayfair. An accomplished athlete, Tom excelled in all sports, but his true love was for the game of baseball. He received the 'Boy of the Year' award in 1968; captained his high school baseball team; and was recruited by the Baltimore Orioles 1976.
Tom ultimately refrained from joining the minor league and focused on creating a family and building a successful insurance business, Lennon Financial Group. Throughout his 31-year career with Nationwide, he was a pioneer in the expansion and diversification of local markets, culminating in the ownership of 13 offices.
Above all, Tom's generous spirit, fierce loyalty and joyful approach to life was unprecedented. He will forever be loved, our very own 3-time San Francisco Giants World Series Champion.
Please join the Lennon family on Monday, June 27th, 2022, at Delaware Valley Cremation Center (7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136) for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Tom's life. There will be a visitation from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm, followed by a service from 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm. Afterwards, there will be time for refreshments and fellowship until 9:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Tom's honor to St. Jude Children's hospital.
