Wilbert "Will" G. Kane

Will (Wilbert) G. Kane passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on July 17, 2022. Beloved husband of 54 years to Trudy (Gertrude) Kane (nee Bradley).  Devoted father of William Kane (Erin), Christine Tomes (Edward), Laurie Czajkowski (Michael), and Daniel Kane (Maureen).  Loving Pop-Pop of Kayla, Marissa, Skylar, William, and Kellianne, and Step Pop-Pop to Joshua, Darren, Carlee, and Lauren.

Will spent over 45 years serving the City of Philadelphia, as a Police Officer and also worked for the Federal Government. Will also loved spending time at the Delaire Landing pool, and helping anyone who needed it.

Will loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and taking family trips.  He was a man that made people feel like family even if they weren’t. He was quick with a joke, loved sharing his life experiences, especially the ones when he no longer worked in uniform.  Will was devoted to his forever love and best friend, Trudy.  Will was an incredible family man and he will be greatly missed by all who loved and admired him.

Please join the Kane family after 6:00pm on Monday July 25th 2022 at Delaware Valley Cremation Center 7350 State Road Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Will's life. Family sharing will begin at 7:00pm with time for refreshments and fellowship immediately afterwards, until 9:00pm where Will's family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support.

Will and his wife came to my home when I invited the whole office. They were the only one's that came that day. When I arrived at the office I would sit with Will, Greg and his wife in the base room

Today I spoke to Trudy who informed me of Wil's passing. I met will in 1971 in the 16th. From that day on I had a mentor and a friend.
We spent several years working together and then ran into one another many times after as I met some of his children and certainly Trudy , his most gracious partner. Anyone who knows Will has great respect for Trudy ( your smiling aren't you).
My sympathy and prayers to the family I along with all of you will miss a good man and great friend.

Trudy and Family,

Words cannot describe how sorry I am for your loss of Wilbert. Allow me to send my deepest sympathies and most genuine and heartfelt condolences. He is in a better place and does not have to suffer anymore. Although I did not fully know Wilbert personally, I know of him through my parents who I moved back home with for about 22 months before I got my first house. I just learned of Wilbert‘s death last night in a phone call with my mother. When she mentioned him to me, I had a feeling that he passed away. Anytime I heard about four of Wilbert he was such a nice guy and so pleasant. I can only imagine what your entire family is going through during these unprecedented and unusual times. My prayers and thoughts are with you all and the rest of the family.

Mr. Kane was highly respected in the neighborhood growing up on his block. He was a great Man with a Great Family. God Bless the Kane Family, Love Joe Doherty

Dear Trudy and family,
I worked with Will when I was the ASAC in Philly in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. He and a few of the other Philly cops I worked with made that assignment one of the highlights of my career. I was often on the street with Will as we conducted intensive and dangerous enforcement operations. Will was the consummate narcotics investigator, highly competent but always cool under pressure. However, what I remember most is that he was always upbeat, he always had a smile on his face and it made me feel good just to be around him. He was a great friend. I am truly sorry for your loss.

Dear Trudy and family,
I hadn't known Will in the past, but I had the privilege of meeting him approximately 6 months ago. He is someone you immediately like and what was said about him that he made everyone feel welcome and important certainly rings true.
I could tell he was a great person the minute we met. I am certainly going to miss him at our breakfast meetings. I know your family will miss Will. I will keep you in my prayers.
