William F. Bodine

William Frances Bodine, age 79 of Philadelphia, Pa, Medford, NJ and more recently West Winfield NY, passed away suddenly on March 29 at Cooperstown Hospital. 

He was born in Philadelphia, Pa on September 5, 1944 to Robert 
Bodine and Mary (Walsh) Bodine. Bill attended St. John Neumann High School in Philadelphia, Pa and Camden County Community College in NJ.


He was married to Virginia Dowhy in 1968 and to Wendy (Squires) Barrie in 1985. Bill served in the US Air Force From 1962 to 1966. He was stationed in Alaska and Japan, in the 6918th Security squadron as a code interpreter. He worked for the Philadelphia Railroad then at the Philadelphia National Bank, installing hardware and software for some of the first ATM machines. From there he worked at Kranzley Inc on ATM software. Bill stayed there when they became Anacomp. 

The last 25 years of his working life was spent at the Philadelphia Corporation For Aging in Philadelphia PA., where he stayed until he retired to NY in 2013. Bill enjoyed downhill skiing, swimming and deep-sea fishing in his earlier days. He was an avid reader spending many happy hours at the bookstores. Bill enjoyed camping with his family, tending his garden and being a rock hound! More recently, he enjoyed his retirement sitting on the deck with Wendy watching the world go by, tending his chickens and throwing a stick or two for their pups, Bella and Chaos.

Bill is survived by his wife Wendy, daughter Laura Bodine (Nick) Tantaros, son Eric (Megan) Bodine, son James (Amanda) Barrie and grandchildren Alexi Tantaros and Cody Barrie. He was predeceased by his parents Robert and Mary Bodine, brother Robert Bodine and granddaughter Kainah Cranfill Barrie.

Please join the Bodine family on Saturday July 27th from 3:00 to 6:00 pm at Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating Bill's life. A service for him will begin at 4:00 pm with time for refreshments and fellowship afterwards, until 6:00 pm. Bill's family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances, and support throughout the evening. 


Instead of the traditional mourning, we request the joy of your company in bright colors, reflecting Bill’s vibrant spirit.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary in Moab, Utah.
