William H. Young

William H. Young, born on February 7^th, 1945, passed away peacefully on June 15^th, 2022 in his home at the age of 77, surrounded by his loving family. For those near and dear to him, he could also be known as Bill, Docky, Pop, Hercules or Lord Young.

Beloved husband to Constance Young. Devoted father to Eric William Young (Michelle Marie) and Jason Adam Young (Angela Marie). Dearest grandfather to Holly Ann Lucke (James William) and Erica Lyn Young (Juan Carlos). Loving great grandfather to James William Lucke Jr. and Julie Ann Lucke. Cherished brother to Henry Young (late Margaret), Francis Young (Carol), Margaret Engle (John), Robert Young (Marie), Richard Young (Catherine), Jeanne Kirkpatrick (late David) and the late Charles Young (late Kathy), Vincent Young, Joseph Young, Valerie Wood (late Thomas), John Young and Thomas Young.

William was born to the late Henry and Margaret Young and was raised in Philadelphia. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy during the Vietnam war. He served on the U.S.S. Lloyd Thomas DD 764. It was during this time that Bill met his future and forever wife, Connie. As a result, his life was spared, for Bill’s ship, where he was supposed to be stationed, was bombed at sea and there were very few survivors. Bill never made it back on time to get on his ship. Instead, he ended up in the Naval hospital. Prolonging his farewell with his then pregnant wife that he didn’t want to leave behind, they were playing around on the steps at McPherson Square when he accidently twisted and sprained his ankle, impeding him from returning back to sea. He was late to return to duty, but just on time to continue living.

Please join the Young family after 3:00 pm on Saturday June 25th 2022, at Delaware Valley Cremation Center, 7350 State Road, Philadelphia, PA 19136 for a gathering of remembrance in honoring and celebrating William's life. There will be a service at 4:00 pm with time for refreshments and fellowship until 6:00 pm, where William's family will be accessible to receive the loving comfort of your condolences, remembrances and support.
